Abstract: During the first stage of the construction of the TucuruiHydroelectric Power Station in the Tocantins river, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, forecast studies contributed to take in time the actions necessary to minimize the effects of the great flood occurred in 1980 in the Tocantins river basin, assuring security for the personnel involved as well as preservation of works and equipment of the plant.
