Abstract: An expert system is developed in this study with the state-of-the-art modeling tools to provide decision support for the flood control and management system in Canada’s Prairies province. The selection of flood management measures is based on hydraulic, hydrological, environmental, and economic factors related to the watershed by considering multiple years of experience under various flood control conditions, and this could avoid subjective judgment to improve the reliability of flood control decision-making. The proposed system can provide an effective tool for flood management system by conceptualizing and quantifying experiences from experts to establish feasible rules for flood prevention and control.
