Abstract: This study is to investigate the physico-chemical effects of NaCl, pH and gas bubbles with regard to depositional behavior and the resuspension of fine-grained sediments. Experiments were performed using model material such as quartz powder and alumina, which are soluble in river, were used in small-scale column. The mean concentration profiles were measured by Charged Coupled Device (CCD) Camera and the size of gas bubbles by the diode laser. The higher the gas content, the more the deposited alumina floated in high pH values, where particles settled more rapidly without air addition. The findings probably are valuable to illuminate the settling of the fine-grained particles and to optimize disposal of consolidated muddy sediments in river and lakes.
