Abstract: In this work one appears the results of the campaigns of sediment measurement and obtaining axes of sediment transport of 2002 and 2003 years made in the bifurcation of the Mezcalapa River, which is located in the Southeastern of Mexico. The results of the measurements of field allow to understanding the fluvio-morphologic operation of the bifurcation; in addition, to find an explanation of the formation of zones of erosion and deposit in the Mezcalapa, Samaria and Carrizal rivers, that have caused a change in the distribution of the liquid discharge that circulate in each arm. It has importance because many communities exist near to the currents where they have increased the flows mainly the State Capital, Villahermosa city which are in flood risk. The results obtaining combined with the studies of topography to detail, geophysical and petrography allow to establishing alternatives of solution for the bifurcation of the Mezcalapa River.
