Study on the Type of Aeration Bucket Aerator Under Low Froude Number Spillway Tunnel

Abstract: The former engineering practices suggest that artificial aeration bucket could gain the purpose when the Froude number is rang in 6. 0~7. 0. In consideration of features low Froude number (3. 0~4. 0) of Pubugou spillway tunnel and through the hydraulic model experiments, based on the type of aeration bucket, many experiments were made about the type of “V” slope, “cantilever” aeration bucket, “splayed” aeration bucket and “spacious splayed” aeration bucket. The optimized aeration bucket is to rebuild the downstream rectangle bucket and change into curve type. Cavity pocket in the optimized aeration bucket can be formed and aeration effect was better. This measurement has been applied in this project.
