Abstract: The last few decades have witnessed accelerated developments in hydro-projects in China. These developments were prompted by construction of large-scale hydro-projects. All of those projects feature in high water head and high velocity flow. Such as many dams with height from 100 m to 250 m have been constructed. Even more high dams with height 200-300 m being to build in the future 10 years. The high velocity flow is covering such areas of specialization as energy dissipation, cavitations, aeration, vibration and atomization and so on. The research on high velocity flow related to hydro-projects are very closely combined with the practice of planning, designing, constructing and operating. Some progresses of study on high-velocity flow are briefly described in this paper.
