Abstract: At the projected hydropower plant Kops 2 by the Vorarlberger Illwerke AG different operation conditions are necessary due to regulation processes. Thereby inflow and outflow conditions in the T-junctions, which are located between the pumps and turbines, are changed. To quantify the hydraulic properties of the T-junction physical model tests were conducted and compared to a CFD-simulation. A variant of the junction was simulated then in order to determine which form has better hydraulic properties.
