Abstract: In order to estimate the variation scope and degree of river water chloride content caused by a new diversion work, a 1-D numerical model was used to calculate and forecast the changes of chloride contents near water intakes under the condition of different combinations with different diversion discharge, different river flow discharge and different tides. The result shows that the content of chloride near the intake is mainly affected by river flow discharge and downstream tide types, and the increased hours of chloride content exceeding the assessment criteria is within the permission scope.
