Achievemnets, Approach and Benefits of Soil and Water Conservation in China

Abstract: The achievements, the approach of Soil and Water Conservation (SWC) efforts in China have been reviewed in this paper. The SWC benefits in various aspects are discussed, including sediment reduction, poverty alleviation, flood control, land use change, crop production and farmers’income. The authors suggest that there should be more investment allocation for SWC work, great achievements and appropriate approaches of SWC work in China, and SWC measures should play a leading role in sediment reduction efforts.
