Abstract: Determining suspended sediment of sub-basins without statistical data by using sub-basin with statistical data, is accomplished by using regional analysis. By dividing sub-basin to homogeneous groups, easily and with appropriate accuracy, multivariate regression models based on basin features can be used and suspended sediment of sub-basins can be determined. For determining suspended sediment regression model or models of sefidrood basin, 18 sub-basins with known suspended sediment at statistical period is selected and 20 geomorphologic, hydrological, climatically, land use and lithological characteristics determined. Since the number of variables is very much, for determining hydrological homogeneous groups, main components are selected based on principal components analysis method. Therefore, from 20features, 4 main components is selected for determining homogeneous groups. To select homogeneous groups we used a statistical method. After dividing basins to homogeneous groups, discriminate analysis is used to determine precision of clustering. In final stage by regression analysis, correlation between average annual suspended sediment and basins characteristics in each homogeneous groups is presented. Results show that homogeneous groups give appropriate results.
