Abstract: The Yellow River carries more sediment load than its sediment transport capacity. Since the operation of big reservoirs on the Upper reaches, the flow regime has been broken out and deposition has been increased in the alluvial sections of the Upper, Middle and Lower Yellow River. The preliminary calculations show that the increased flow volume in the flood season, especially in the high-concentrated flood period, from the Middle reach, and well matched water and sediment relationship with the regulation by the Daliushu reservoir can reduce the deposition in the main channel of the Upper, Middle and Lower Yellow River.
