Abstract: As one of the main international rivers in Southwest China, the Red River has the characters of rich hydropower resources, steep stream gradient and high sediment concentration. Thus, properly handling the sediment problem is the key problem during the river exploitation. In this paper, the preliminary proposition for sediment control and ejection in the Nansha hydropower Project is presented, which aims at the sediment problem in the main stream of Red River and gives a pavement for exploiting and utilizing the water resource in Red River.
