Abstract: Qezel-Ozan River is one of the longest (670 km) rivers of the Caspian Sea basin in Iran. The river training works have finished in 19 zones of this river from 1998 to the present. In this research, economical evaluations carried out on costs of river engineering projects to compare anticipated and real costs with consideration of discount rate. In most of these projects operating companies were paid to contractors higher than what had been indicated in the contracts. However in many cases, supervisory consultants were received exactly according to the initial contracts. The main reason for this is thought to be extended time of construction. To improve this situation, efficiency has to be enhanced and construction time ought to be reduced. Developing a strategy for the idea of combining governmental finances and private investment in river training works reduces the construction time of projects and prevents imposing additional costs.
