Abstract: The Arctic offshore is changing and increasingly drawing the world’s interest with the region’s vast energy, mineral and marine resources. The potential for vast reserves of offshore oil and gas constitutes arguably the most attractive. Winterization design is one of the key issues to consider in the robust structural safety design and building of ships that operate in the Arctic and Sub-Arctic regions. In this paper, we focused on experimental verification of anti-icing and de-icing on aluminum helideck. The winterization test was carried out as section model consisting of the heat tracing cable and pancake in cold chamber simulating the polar environment. It was obtained by the test anti-icing and de-icing specific condition data according to the polar code offered by DNV rulesBased on the results, we propose the winterization system design of the offshore helideck in Arctic Ocean.
