Abstract: Habby is a new open source software designed to determine ecological flows. Even if it doesn’t encompass a hydraulic model it admits outputs from a non-exhaustive list of different hydraulic models. Biological models such as classical habitat suitability curves can be easily implemented in it. Habby produces analyses and GIS outputs such as maps of fish habitat that are useful for ecological-studies such as river restoration. It was developed as a collaborative platform, both for end users and researchers. New features are already in development: the estimation of juvenile fish stranding risk due to hydropeaking, and the determination of hydraulic characteristics associated to fish positions recorded by telemetry.
