Abstract: The Imatra city brook in Finland was constructed in 2014 to be a compensative reproduction area for Brown trout. The target in the planning and construction was to maximize good quality habitat area with a limited discharge. Monitoring reveals quick development of macroinvertebrate communities and promising densities of trout juveniles, equal to international references. Nutrition seems not to be a limiting factor for the juvenile production in the early stage of the channel. Monitoring data confirms the expected high potential of reproduction channels in reviving migratory fish stocks in constructed rivers.
