Abstract: With the development of high-intensity utilization of water resources by mankind, the management of rivers is no longer limited to the traditional management of water quantity and quality, and the ecological andhydrological pattern of rivers is receiving more and more attention. Among them, the vertical connectivity of rivers is an important part. Huaihe River Basin is selected as the research area, which has multiple sluices and developed by high-strength. Taking the part of Anhui Province as an example, the vertical continuity index and the connectivity of tree-shaped river network based on the cumulative method and bottleneck method are used to evaluate the connectivity of the river sections. The result shows that the value of the vertical continuity index is1.19, and while the value of the connectivity of tree-shaped river network is different by two methods, which is19.93 by cumulative method and 24.92 by bottleneck method. Further analysis is made on the influence ofdifferent number and location of sluices on the river connectivity, which can be used as a reference for the maintenance of river connectivity in the basin.
