Abstract: To support the understanding of the influence of tidal renewable energy schemes on ecosystem services, a system dynamics model was developed. This model was used to analyze the food web interactions and fish stocks of both migratory and stationary fish species for a proposed tidal impoundment in North Wales. It was shown that while the overall biomass in the impounded area is likely to increase, stocks of migratory fish in the impoundment will drastically decrease in the impoundment and the tributaries.
