Abstract: In recent years, Bung River, that is located in the middle part of Viet Nam, has exploded hydropower dams on the upstream river with many economic benefits. This dam system also has the important role to regulate water for the whole river basin. However, there are concerns about the risk of dam-break because many tropical cyclones from East Sea land in this region with very heavy rainfall to make quickly exceed the capacity of the reservoirs and high pressure on dams. Thus, it is necessary to simulate flood and install inundation map and damages map cause by not only the failure of one dam but also the series of dams on one river or river system. By integrating remote sensing technology and GIS with the hydraulic model, flood simulation was performed in case four broken dams on Bung River. The scenarios were set up for the frequency of rainfall by 0,1%, 1%, 2%. The results were shown that the damages of the series of broken dams are larger than one at least 1.3 times.
