Abstract: The Hydrau lic and thermodynamic properties of ice are crucial for the study on ice kinematics. According to the common mot ion forms at different ice stages of drift ice, stable ice cover and melt ing ice, the concepts and parameterizat ions of the flow equat ion and heat conduction equat ion have been discussed. The hydraulics and thermodynamics equation of ice mot ion based on the case of shallow lakes have been established. The conclusion is that the hydraulics and thermodynamics are foundat ion for the study on ice k inemat ics, and the mathematical models of ice kinemat ics can be set up based on a series of equat ions on ice mot ion using properly parameterizat ions.
