Abstract: Medium scale indentation tests were made with varying structural flexibility and indentation velocity. In the tests, ice sheets of thickness o f 200 mm were pushed against flexural steel structu re. The effect of structural flexibility on the distribution of a contact pressu re and to the total force was studied. The average strain rate was higher than 10-3 1/s therefore the brittle failu re was taken place. The dynamic contact pressure du ring indentation was measured using tactile pressu re system with 100 Hz scanning rate for 2288 e lements. The test setup proved to be reliable and promising for measuring pressure d istribution. A line like con tact was observed in the tests.
