Abstract: We examined the impact of the wastewater spreading to the water environment in the right bank area of the Middle Meghna River. Meghna River has the possibility to have water intake points to supply drinking water to Dhaka City, however, the surrounding area just the upper part of the confluence with Padma River is already polluted with contaminants of industrial and agricultural origin. In this area, economic zones have been proposed and, flood assisted spreading of industrial wastes as well as fertilizers and pesticides used in agriculture may act as long-term pollution sources. To reveal the impact of the spreading of pollutants, we performed the numerical flood and substance spreading analysis with consideration of groundwater. As a result, we showed the spatial distribution of the spread pollutant and its effect on groundwater contamination.
