Abstract: Flood insurance is an important non-structural measure for flood control. Implementation of it in Changjiang (Yangtze) River valley has become necessary with a view to perfect the flood control system. Experience accumulated at home and abroad can be used for reference in trying out flood insurance in this valley. In this paper, studies have been made, in the light of actual flood control situations and the trial implementation of flood insurance in the Valley. Personal opinions on implementation scope, the interest groups, insurance organizations and its patterns, insurance premium rates and so on are given.
