Hydraulic Problem as Closing Emergency Gate of Free-Flow Tunnel on Flowing Water

Abstract: In this paper, the transform rule of flow pattern and calculation method of water discharge are to be analyzed regarding the hydraulic phenomenon of inlet of free-flow discharge tunnel as closing the emergency gate wall on flowing water by means of the model test. The formula for calculating the water depth of the emergency gate is to be derived. The method of reducing the diffusion of sluice flow and eliminating the negative pressure of the downstream side of the gate slot are to be given. Meanwhile, the ventilated volume back of the gate is to be observed and analyzed.
