Abstract: This paper concerns with physical modeling practice of hydro-elastic gate vibration. It covers the law of similitude, the selection of model materials and the typical example of radial gate thereof experienced for demonstration. A material having low modulus of elasticity and high density in the form of sheet plate to meet the hydro-elastic gate vibration requirements, thus making possible to conform the similarities of geometry, gravity, elasticity, density and the distribution of stiffness as well. Such a model is able to keep virtual mass similar even using ordinary tap water. The measured properties of model materials will also be presented. Consequently, the findings thereby obtained and evidenced by prototype observations will be displayed and discussed.
