Abstract: To study the effect of the Three George Reservoir on the flow field of Yangtz river, we use the Shallow Water Equations and the Finite Element Method to simulate the change of the velocity field before and after the construction of the reservoir. Since the scale of this problem is quite large, parallel computing technique is engaged to implement the implicit solving of the large linear system.
