Abstract: “GED – GEneralized Diagrams” is a PC-based software tool designed for computer-aided investigations on the fundamental aspects of the operating behaviour of installed valves. The program plots diagrams in a parametric form to provide means for evaluating the advantages and limitations of each tentative valve according to a structured, stepwise approach. It is adopted the pattern of the valve behaviour being represented by “Generalized Diagrams”, a proposal to determine the flow behaviour of valves as elements integrated with their piping system. They comprise three dimensionless families of curves drawn from the energy-dissipation features of valves as components alone.
