Abstract: Many efforts have been recently devoted to the development of multidimensional techniques for free surface flows. Among them, those oriented to the resolution of unsteady shallow water flow, have been strongly influenced by the upwind philosophy initially introduced in. These methods are specially applicable for advection dominated problems and their implementation is not straightforward when source terms are relevant. A first order finite volume method and its performance in the simulation of a laboratory experiment are presented.
