Abstract: A description of new and different study and conclusions of the stability of rag revetments under wave action is presented in this paper. Test results show that the cross section of stone rags is closely related to the rag instability, that wave period is an important factor in the study of rag stability, and that critical instability principle is the co-action of the dynamic pressure difference between two rag ends under wave action, the quasi-static pressure difference caused by catch-water in levee body, and the negative pressure pulse produced by wave action on the rag surface.
