Abstract: The computational capability of the impedance matrix method has been improved for field pipe networks with great dimension and complexity. Numerical methods for the linear system solver were modified to address the complex domain operation and merged into impedance evaluation. The row-indexed compact storage scheme and the conventional row column storage scheme were used to address the reference of onedimensional storage and also implemented in the bi-conjugate gradient method and the Gaussian elimination scheme, respectively. Two hypothetical pipe networks, the multi-series system, and the multi-looped system were used to test the performance of the developed schemes. The impact of randomizing pipeline parameters, i.e. friction factor, length, and wave speed, on computation efficiency was evaluated and compared.
