Abstract: Due to the frequent occurrence of flood events, the implementation of real time flood forecast and management systems came into focus. A typical implementation of such a system based on KISTERS solutions is described. Furthermore, the new KISTERS Time Series Management (TSM) System, which constitutes an excellent basis for the implementation of real time flood forecast and management systems, is introduced. Efficient flood management depends on the response time and predictive quality of the forecast models used. Two initial studies using an innovative neuronal forecast model framework developed for the operational power system management, which are relatively insensitive to noisy input data in a near-real-time environment, are presented.
