Abstract: Formulas for predicting the sediment discharge and the friction factor can be found in abundance. Such formulas have been developed for noncohesive sediment in steady uniform flow and are used in mathematical model for any erodible channel, in spite that they have been obtained by laboratory scale or by statistical method from data field. The method presented herein uses neither estimation of the friction factor nor bed load formulas to obtain the Normal Depth (steady uniform flow) for being used in mathematical fluvial models. It is obtained for each cross section that defines one reach, and it can not be used in other river. Subsequently, it is possible to estimate Mannings′n to be used in other hydraulic calculations.
