Abstract: An RKDG2-HLL shock-capturing scheme with flooding and drying is presented for computing unsteady shallow water flows. A wetting/drying technique is implemented with the Riemann states reconstructed using a non-negative approach. Well-balanced solution is obtained by solving a pre-balanced formulation of the governing equations and using a compatible discretization of the topographic source term. Friction source term is discretized using a splitting implicit technique, with a physical limited value used for stability. After validated against benchmark tests with analytical solutions, the model is applied to reproduce a laboratory-scale frictional dam break.
