Abstract: A physiographic inundation warning model was developed by combination of the physiographic inundation model with Geographic Information System (GIS), which can be applied to forecast inundation potential from the predicted precipitation and tide in the coastland during the typhoon period. The typhoon Kalmaegi in 2008 was used as an illustrative case. The predicted precipitation and tide can be applied to forecast inundation potential by the physiographic inundation warning model. The simulated results indicate that the forecasted inundation area and depth are rather similar to the observed data. Hence, the physiographic inundation warning model has the capability of forecasting inundation potential in the coastland.
