Abstract: The Amazon basin with an area of 6 x 106km2and an average discharge of 209 000m3. s-1 corresponds about 20 % of the fresh water going into the oceans. The well known magnitude of his rivers, is a challenge to measure with accuracy in such environment, but there are a lot of other difficulties one have to face more than big sizes and big depths, this paper will try to show all details that cud affect such kind of measurements as well the problems that are not found in other basins in the planet. The variety characteristic of the waters as well adding the great depths and velocities bring problems to perform a measurement with an acceptable accuracy, even the logistic of such measurement is important to consider. We have found that in some places regular configurations and procedures are not enough and other considerations have to be done.
