Abstract: Sediment loading from urban areas can be an important pollutant. Sources of sediment include erosion and transport of particles from pervious areas, especially those impacted by construction and urbanizing activities (Gray and Sotir, 1996); scouring from unstable channels (Im et al., 2003; Daebel and Gujer, 2005), particulate wash-off from impervious surfaces (Shaw et al., 2006; Rossman, 2008), and detachment and entrainment of sediment in sewer systems (Kanso et al., 2005). Simulation models are useful tools for selecting cost-effective measures to reduce sediment load from these sources.
