Abstract: Erosion around bridge piers is an important parameter that usually causes to destruct them. Therefore experimental study about this phenomenon and investigation of some parameters that affects on bed deformation are valuable. In fact flow pattern affects on erosion and sedimentation around bridge pier. In this study flow and sediment pattern around circular bridge piers are investigated experimentally. Experiments have been carried out in a rectangular channel of 600 mm wide, 300mm high and 5 meter long. In this study different numbers of circular piers and distances between them are investigated. Experimental data show that when distance of circular bridge pier is equal to three times of bridge diameter or more than that, bed deformation and flow pattern around each pier is independent from others.
