Abstract: The paper deals with the experiments on Beach Dewatering System (BDS), carried out in Laboratory of Coastal Engineering in Bari, Italy. Tests were aimed to study both morphological and hydrodynamic aspects, even if only the last one will be presented. Water table levels and drained flow will be showed in different configurations of the system and with different wave attacks in order to discuss about the effectiveness of the BDS. Furthermore a discussion about scale effects has been proposed because they create some doubts in result interpretation; for this reason new experiments have been performed in FZK large canal, whose sand features have been compared with LIC ones. The paper introduces this program, even if definitive results are not yet available.
