Abstract: In this article, depth-averaged transport equations are solved on collocated triangular meshes. When collocated data arrangement is used, variables which are required at the cell face have to be interpolated from the center of the neighboring cells. Two different approaches are then adopted in order to interpolate the dependent variables into the cell face. In the first approach, all variables are interpolated into the cell face and, when required, the product of variables is calculated at the cell face. In the second approach, all variables, except the water surface elevation and depth, are integrated over the water depth and, their total value is interpolated into the cell face. Numerical simulations performed with these two different methods are compared in terms of accuracy and computational cost.
