Abstract: A water cycle infrastructure plan was developed for Beaudesert, a semi-rural town located in South East Queensland (Australia). This Plan will be delivered through the Priority Infrastructure Plan (PIP) by Scenic Rim Regional Council to adequately service future development within Beaudesert, considering all aspects of water cycle infrastructure – including drainage and stormwater systems. This paper addresses the following challenges associated with the stormwater management (in a broader context of water cycle management) within Beaudesert: · Flooding of the system and widespread erosion and bank slumping · Pollutant loads associated with land use and associated runoff, and effluent release · Poor water quality in the mid to upper reaches of the Logan estuary Additionally, this paper addresses stormwater conveyance and water quality management through the use of flooding analysis, water sensitive urban design (WSUD), water reuse and recycling strategies to overcome these challenges.
