Abstract: Discontinuous Galerkin schemes have shown promising results to solve the 2D-shallow water equations in urban areas during flooding events using a finite element scheme. In this paper, the classical Runge Kutta time discretisation is replaced by the Eigen Vector linear Reconstruction (EVR) approach that allow to achieve the second order time discretisation in one computational step. The proposed method is compared to a classical RKDG approach on dam-break and experimental test cases. The EVR-DG approach appears to be as accurate as RKDG and 1.5 times faster than the Runge Kutta scheme.
