Abstract: Denmark and Germany are planning to build a fixed link across Fehmarnbelt in the western Baltic Sea. One of the main concerns is its environmental impact and to make an appropriate EIA, high quality and reliable data is of utmost importance. This is achieved by employing the most modern techniques and equipment combined with a rigorous post processing. A data handling centre is established where the data is collected, checked and finally distributed to the relevant users throughout Europe. This data handling centre demonstrates the use of cyber infrastructure for important operational uses of databases and web visualization tools in large scale field monitoring programs. It also displays the advantages of such rigorous system in the daily operation carefully monitoring the status of the system and the data quality, e.g. of online data flow from in situ moored sensor.
