Abstract: A series of experiments were carried out in the laboratory of Agricultural Hydraulics of the Polytechnic School of Thessaloniki in the Department of Rural and Surveying Engineering, on horizontal absorption, using different soils characterized from clay to sand according to U. S. Soil conservation Service. Moisture profiles were measured using gamma ray technology and fitted using an tan-1 function. A new analytical expression for the diffusion coefficient was established from the fitting function of the moisture profiles and finally F (Θ) was calculated from the profiles using analytical expressions.
