Abstract: Results from a previous laboratory experiment conducted on a large-scale channel with meander planform geometry of natural cross-section, have been used to optimise parameters within a transient storage (TS) model. The repeatability of estimating the parameters for a TS model, and the variation of the parameters throughout the meander cycle is illustrated. Comparison between the four parameter TS model and two parameter Advection Dispersion Equation and Aggregated Dead Zone models is presented. The ability to decompose the TS model is demonstrated with reference to frequency of exchange with the storage zone. Suggestions are presented showing the potential future implication of the decomposed model for use with reactive tracers and its applicability to ecological issues.
