Abstract: This paper conducts a conceptual experimental study of turbid water scour to explore the deformation of the movable bed in flume with a 90-degree bend. It is found that the maximum scour depth depends not only on the hydraulic parameters, such as flow velocity and/or Froude Number, but also on the channel geometry and boundary conditions, including the shape of the protection structure, the slope of the protection wall and the length of the protection apron. The relationships between the maximum scour depth and the related factors are established to describe the mechanisms of the scour in a 90-degree bended flume.
