Abstract: Three different analyses, two empirical and one semi-empirical, of the laboratory results about water oxygenation in stepped spillways sponsored by the Construction Industry Research and Information Association at the University of Birmingham, U. K (CIRIA, Essery et al. 1978) are presented. The first one relates the same parameters chosen by the authors only corrected for the length of aeration. The second one introduces a new relationship that fits the data more closely and has logical significance but may be subject to criticism about its generality. The third one is a semi empirical relation whose structure supports the second analysis but that is yet difficult to be generally applicable.
