Abstract: Based on the mathematical model proposed by Wang et al, the Monte Carlo method is respectively employed to assess the reliability of stability of downstream slope and seepage of the dike at high flood level. The influence of the geometry parameters, such as slope of upstream and downstream, crest width, height of dike etc, on the risk of failure is discussed in detail. In addition, sensitivity analysis of statistical characteristic variables of shear strength parameters is conducted to discuss the influences of soil cohesion and friction angle on the reliability index. This will be helpful to the optimization of dike design.
