Abstract: The effect of the regulated flow of the River Volga on living conditions of the sturgeon stock are considered. We study cross-sectional and vertical prelarvae distributions in the river. A method to estimate the prelarvae density along the river is suggested. This method together with mathematical modelling of the operating of Volga cascade reservoires enables one to find the most appropriate volumes and hydrographs of spring flushes.
