Abstract: For over 20 years, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has been making improvements in the water quality of reservoir releases, primarily by providing minimum flows and increases in dissolved oxygen (DO) levels. In 1979, TVA formally initiated the Reservoir Releases Improvements (RRI) program to plan and implement solutions to water quality problems at specific projects. Under this program, several minimum flow improvements were made, and advancements in aeration technologies were researched, developed, and implemented.
