Abstract: In a stratified reservoir for power generation, a couple of stable interfaces are usually formed at the depth several meters below the water surface and at the level of intake bottom in the period of spring through autumn. Turbulent features of these interfaces may affect water environment of the reservoir and its downstream region. In this paper the authors discuss mixing length, eddy viscosity and instability at the interfaces with data obtained in a practical field.
